The floating piers

Image
"For sixteen days - June 18 through July 3, 2016 - on Italy's Lake Iseo, 100,000 square metres of shimmering yellow fabric, carried by modular floating dock system of 220,000 high-density polyethylene cubes, will undulate with the movement of the waves as The Floating Piers rise just above the surface of the water. Visitors can experience this work of art by walking on it from Sulzano to Monte Isola and to the Island of San Paolo, which is framed by The Floating Piers. The mountains surrounding the lake offer a bird's eye view of The Floating Piers, exposing unnoticed angles and altering perspectives. Lake Iseo is located 100 kilometres east from Milan and 200 kilometres west from Venice. A 3-kilometre-long boardwalk extends across the water of Lake Iseo to form The Floating Piers. The piers are 16 metres wide and approximately 35 centimetres high with sloping sides. The fabric continues along 1.5 kilometres of pedestrian streets in Sulzano and Peschiera Maraglio. The ...

Fifty Shades of Grey

Image
I went to the cinema about a couple of weeks ago. Some friends of mine wanted to see "Fifty Shades of Grey", they were so excited about it because they read the book, so I decided to join them and see what was all this rave about. I haven't read the book, but more or less I knew the story of Christian and Anastasia and honestly.......I expected more. The film was pretty featureless. Jamie Dornan was very sexy indeed, but I found the character of Christian so oppressive and too much of a stalker for my taste, they're not even a couple and he seems to appear everywhere she goes. While Anastasia is so boring (I'm not talking about the actress, I'm talking about the character of Anastasia). I think the story has nothing original or special: boy meets girl, he's too hot for her but he wants her anyway, she drools over him whenever she sees him and since she's very clumsy we participate to some little funny situations, they kiss, they decide to be friends ...

Wine & Food Tasting

Image
Recently, I've been to a wine and food tasting with some friends. We drove for about 45 minutes heading to Bergamo to arrive at the restaurant where everything took place. The location was evocative due to the wintry landscape, the restaurant was surrounded by bare trees and there was also a little lake with a little fountain in the middle of it, and a mini jetty (I wondered who ever tried to sail that tiny body of water!).  The place was on a rise, the tiny street we walked through was full of greenery and other plants that would probably blossom in spring. I bet that place must be amazing during spring and summer because they organise wedding there too, so I tried to imagine everything was floral.     who has the courage to get on that old boat?     First they took us on a wine cellar tour, and told the story of their family that produces wine since ages, and how they make it. Then, once we were all sat down in the hall, they served us five di...

Big Buffet and Concert in Milan

Image
A few days ago I went to a concert of an Italian band in Milan, with a couple of friends. We live near Milan, so it took us just an hour to get there. As it was 19 o' clock (more or less), we went to a bar for a aperitif. The place was called "Sand" and it was very cool, it had soft black leather sofas and mirrors all over the walls, light was suffused and they played lounge music. We ordered our drinks. I got one named Sand (as the place) that was so good, it tasted like pineapple, banana and orange; and my friends had another one but I can't remember what it was. But what is a happy hour without a buffet? Let me tell you it was magnificent! We plunged into the sea of food on the table decked for the occasion: different types of pasta, tortellini with cream and ham, lasagna, couscous, fresh sliced bread and several sauces to put on, cheese, pizza, focaccia bread, croquettes......oh, how I love aperitifs buffets! I always gorge a lot on! ...
